Multisport events like Triathlon have to be among the friendliest and most sociable sports around. Triathlon Club memberships are growing by the day and whether you are aiming to compete or just want to train, you will be surrounded by a group of like-minded individuals of all ages and gender. The sport is fully inclusive and there will always be people willing to offer advice or kind enough to help you out. That’s also true with Volunteering whether you compete or not. People like to be involved with well-run, popular events and we like to think that everyone who volunteers and helps out at our events, thoroughly enjoys the experience. You will be well looked after and surrounded by people who are enthusiastic about the sport and genuinely want to help.
Volunteers are our "engine room" and we do value the support that each and every person provides... and so do the competitors. From the first finisher to the last, they all really appreciate the direction and vocal support you give during the events. It is a real boost!
The 2019 season will be with us before we know it and everyone’s mind is already focused on the season ahead. We at VO2Max Racing Events are concentrating on making our two lake open water triathlon events even bigger and better than ever!
Our lake triathlon events attract competitors from all over the country and abroad. We have two great venues at Ladyburn Lake, Druridge bay Country Park and the QE2 Lake next to Woodhorn Museum. People like our events because they are straightforward and well run. As a volunteer you’ll be hard pressed to find any better events to help out at.
If you are not participating and you think you would like to get involved with any of these events, can you please let us know and we can then talk to you about what that entails.
First and foremost, you'll have a great time! You'll be well looked after before and throughout the event. There will be early starts for the majority of the team at each event and there are a variety of volunteer roles available. You’ll be given instructions and advice so you know exactly what to do and there'll always be a senior marshal you can approach with any questions or concerns. We double up volunteers where possible, so if you want to bring a spouse or friend, just let us know and we’ll keep you together.
We'll be following the same format as last season, so as a Volunteer you will receive a free event shirt, you’ll be given a token for food and a drink and you'll be given the option of a "completely free entry" into another event of your choice in 2019. That would apply to all the events you help out with and would transfer to the following season if need be.
You’ll be given electronic event information prior to the day but when the day arrives we just ask that you report to your senior marshal at the appointed time and if you can, help set up and dismantle the course signage and kit. More hands make light work!
Please also read the Triathlon England Volunteers' Code of Conduct, and be sure you're happy to adhere to those standards.
If you are interested and want to be involved please confirm by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Can you tell us what experience you have in sport/multisport, if any, and how you would like to get involved, whether it be marshalling on the bike, swim or run course or helping in registration or transition. If you are new to marshalling and unsure about anything, don’t worry, we’ll give you a call to discuss if you like? If you could also give us a mobile contact number and a T shirt size at the same time that would be great.
