This perennial favourite is held at Woodhorn Museum in the QE2 Country Park which boasts a 16 hectare lake surrounded by developing woodland and open grasslands. This is our 'Home' for open water swim training in the summer months.
In 2014 the QE2 Sprint Triathlon was a fantastic success with almost 700 competitors. In 2015 it will be even better with activities and attractions for the whole family the evening before and on the day of the event. Why not make it a family weekend?
The 1 lap 750m swim will be in the warm shallow freshwater lake. The 24km 'undulating' bike route will take you out of woodhorn Museum along the coastal route with some breath-taking views. The 2 lap 6km run will be on the footpath that winds its way through the woodland and open grasslands that surround the lake and passes the finish at the end of the first lap.
If there was ever an ideal location to stage a triathlon, then Druridge Bay Country Park must be top of the list.
In 2014 the Northumberland Triathlon 'sold out' with over 420 competitors. In 2015 it's going to be bigger and better than ever with increased competitor capacity. There will also be activities and attractions for the whole family the day before and on the day of the event.
Why not make it a family weekend? With Sprint and Standard distances on offer again, the swim will be in the warm shallow freshwater Ladyburn Lake set within the park grounds. The bike route will take you out of the Country Park along a beautiful coastal route and the run will be a multi-lap route on the footpath that winds its way through the woods and meadows that surround the lake.

This year the BTF have introduced electronic day licences. If you entered the race as a non-member you won't receive a paper licence at race registration, but you can download the licence from the Ashington event page. You don't need to bring a copy with you to the race, it's simply available to download in case you need to retain a copy for your records.
If you entered the race as a BTF member you will need to bring along your membership card, or pay the standard £5 charge for a day licence; no exceptions.
Race briefing notes for the Morpeth Duathlon are now available to download on the event page. There will be a race briefing on race morning at 09:30, but if you prefer to take a peek beforehand you can!
Race instructions, including the event schedule etc., will be emailed to all competitors and posted online a week or so before the event.
